Android gaming is getting better and better with each new game that hits the Play Store, but there are still some great offline story games that you can play without an internet connection. Here are our three favorites!
1. Alto’s Adventure
If you’re looking for a beautiful and meditative experience, Alto’s Adventure is definitely worth checking out. You play as Alto, running through a majestic landscape made up of procedurally generated hills and mountains. It’s an endless runner type of game, so you just keep going until you hit a obstacle or fall off the edge of the world. The gameplay is simple but satisfying, and the visuals are absolutely stunning.
2. Thimbleweed Park
If classic adventure games are more your style, you can’t go wrong with Thimble weed Park. The game pays homage to the point-and-click games of yesteryear like Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island, but it’s still got an irreverent sense of humor that’s all its own. Like the old LucasArts games, all you need is a mouse to play, so you’ll never have to worry about touch controls getting in the way of your sleuthing.
3. Pokemon GO
If you’re reading this far, there’s a good chance that Pokemon GO is already on your radar, but just in case you don’t have it yet I’ve included it in my list. It’s not quite an offline story game, since it does require you to be connected to the internet in order to play. But because so many players are still interested in playing even without service, Niantic has added a battery saver feature that can help prolong your battery life while you use it. It won’t have full functionality, but you can collect items from PokeStops, battle in a Gym, and hatch eggs.
And those are our three favorite offline story games! If you want more suggestions after trying these out, let us know which types of games you’re looking for and we’ll do our best to find something great. Thanks for reading!
